Valentine’s Day

14 Feb

It has been debated in every years when it comes to 14 February, of its permissibility to be celebrated by Muslims.

People would say that, “Man, Valentine’s Day is HARAMMMMM. You can’t even wish them as it looks like you’re into this celebration”. Really?

I’ve my own personal opinion regarding this issue. I come out with a question, “I do not celebrate Valentine’s Day, but it is wrong to wish my friends (who’s not a Muslim)?”

Dari Ibn Umar beliau berkata, “Rasulullah shallallaahu alaihi wa sallam bersabda,

مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ

Barangsiapa menyerupai suatu kaum maka ia termasuk bagian dari mereka” (HR Abu Daud).

And…other lots of hadith regarding this issue…

As I see it in different way, there is other part which involved in Siyasah Syar’iyyah where people actually could wish them as long as the real meaning of doing so is just, To greet them, Tightens up the relationship between our multi-culture and multi-religion friends, as well as being a good example of meraikan those people as long as you are not redha or agreed with the real meaning of the celebration. There are a lot of Fatwas have been discussing from Islamic jurists around the world about this thing. Go and have a look in a wider circulation of ilmu.

Life is not about us. We’re not living with/among Muslims people only. If you’re saying that wishing the “Purity of Love” for non-Muslim is HARAMMM, does it as bad as you who’re in a sexual relationship of love between a man and woman out of marriage, that you’re actually celebrating the Valentine’s Day more than them EVERYDAY.
